Elementum FAQs

Q: What is the Elementum?
A: The Elementum is a precision-machined, two-piece stainless steel fidget coin. It uses internal ball bearings to create a smooth, low-friction rotational experience and is held together magnetically—essentially a bearing in its purest form.

Q: What if mine isn’t turning smoothly?
A: It’s common for the Elementum to feel slightly gritty when brand new—especially with the ceramic bearings. There is a short break-in period as the components settle and wear in naturally with use. The rotation will become smoother over time. Regular cleaning can also help if dust or debris is present. You can also swap in the included Delrin bearings or use the organizer insert for a different feel!

Q: How are the two halves held together?
A: The two halves of the Elementum are held together using strong neodymium magnets that are glued into each side. The only point of contact is the set of ball bearings in the internal races. This allows for ultra-smooth, tactile rotation and quick access for swapping or cleaning components.

Q: Are the halves interchangeable between grip styles?
A: Yes! The Stepped and Grooved grip versions are fully interchangeable. You can mix and match to customize your look, feel, and spin profile.

Q: How do I change the ball bearings?
A: Gently separate the two halves and remove the current bearings. When reassembling, carefully close the halves together while keeping them aligned to avoid impacting the inner races or misplacing any bearings.

Q: What does the organizer insert do?
A: It holds 7 ball bearings (instead of 8) evenly spaced and prevents them from contacting each other. This provides a quieter, more controlled rotation.

Q: Why is there extra space between the ball bearings?
A: That extra space allows each bearing to drop and shift slightly during rotation, creating the distinct auditory feedback the Elementum is known for. It enhances the tactile experience and gives the sound its subtle, rain-like quality.

Q: How do I clean the Elementum?
A: Carefully separate the two halves over a dish or cloth to catch any loose bearings. Clean the internal bearing races with a lint-free cloth. Ball bearings can also be wiped down with a clean lint-free cloth to remove debris or buildup. You can also use a short burst of compressed air (while assembled) to clear out any small particles or dust.

Q: Will the magnets wear out or lose strength over time?
A: The magnets are glued into place and made from high-strength neodymium. Under normal use, they won’t lose strength or degrade.

Q: Is this safe for kids?
A: No. The Elementum contains strong magnets and small parts. It is not a toy and is not intended for children.

Q: Where is it made?
A: Proudly machined and assembled in the USA.
